Bourton-on-the-Water: The Venice of the Cotswolds

Walk 1: Set off from the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water on the enchanting Windrush Way, a 13-mile circular walk that meanders alongside the tranquil River Windrush. This route leads you through the village’s charming stone cottages and low bridges before opening up to rolling fields and serene woodlands. Be sure to visit the picturesque Slaughters – Upper and Lower – where you can enjoy a refreshing drink or a bite to eat at one of the quaint village pubs.

Walk 2:  For a more leisurely option, consider a round trip to the Slaughters Country Inn. Enjoy a delightful lunch (booking ahead is recommended), and then retrace your steps to soak up the scenery once more.

Stay at Little Gem Cottage or Hideaway Cottage, both conveniently located in the village with ample parking.

Chipping Campden: A Historic Market Town

Cotswold Way National Trail

Chipping Campden is the gateway to the iconic Cotswold Way, a 102-mile trail stretching to Bath.

Walk 3: While completing the entire trail is a grand adventure, the 6-mile section from Chipping Campden to Broadway Tower is a must. This hilly trek offers stunning panoramic views from Dover’s Hill and the historic Broadway Tower, the second-highest point in the Cotswolds. Rich in history and natural beauty, this walk beautifully merges cultural heritage with breathtaking vistas.

Unwind at Honey Pot, a beautifully refurbished Cotswold stone apartment with a private patio garden and luxurious amenities, is just a short stroll from the historic high street.

Winchcombe: The Walking Capital of the Cotswolds

Winchcombe Way:

Dubbed the walking capital of the Cotswolds, Winchcombe is the starting point of the 42-mile Winchcombe Way. This figure-of-eight trail has Winchcombe at its heart, offering a range of options.

Walk 4: Try the 10-mile route to Belas Knap, a Neolithic long barrow with sweeping countryside views.

Walk 5: Alternatively, the 7-mile Sudeley Castle Circular Walk begins and ends at the historic Sudeley Castle. This route takes you through charming villages, lush meadows, and ancient woodlands. After your walk, explore the castle’s gardens and exhibitions for a touch of history.

Stay at The Bolt Hole, our fully refurbished cottage in Winchcombe, just a stone’s throw from the castle. With its Clearview log burner, luxurious bed linen, and roll-top bath, it’s the perfect spot to rest and recharge.

Stow-on-the-Wold: The Gateway to the Cotswolds

Walk 6: Stow-on-the-Wold to Lower Slaughter: Enjoy a delightful 5-mile walk connecting the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold with the idyllic village of Lower Slaughter.
